The Virginia Moose Association (VMA) is proud of all the students who represented the state at the 2024 International Youth Awareness Congress held in Roanoke. We were very excited to hear Ivy Lin’s named announce as the second place winner as this provided here with an additional $8,000 scholarship towards her dream of attending Yale University. Lin placed fourth in the International competition in 2023, receiving $3,000. Additionally, she has earned an additional $6,000 in scholarship funds from the VMA.
The program allowed Ivy to grown and build confidence in yourself each year she participated in the program. She was also able to gain confidence by traveling to free of charge to places like Orlando, Florida, St. Louis, Missouri, and Roanoke, VA. Along with her parents and friends, her local Youth Awareness mentor Dan Biertzer, the states chairman Manny Propost, and a whole team of Moose volunteers enjoyed seeing Ivy grown into such a wonderful young lady. At Mooseheart, the home for children and teens in need, they are taught to live by the saying “enter to learn, leave to serve”. Ivy Lin is doing just that at a local level. She entered the VMA Youth Awareness program to learn public speaking, confidence, organizational, and Independence skills; of which she has mastered. While she is still going to be learning at Yale University. We are sure she will continue to serve her community by volunteering and helping get other youth to participate in the Moose Youth Awareness program.
